Enjoy a fun-filled bank holiday weekend getaway to Cornwall with Border Boys from 23rd-26th August. This can include a scenic bike ride along the Camel Trail, beach visit, shopping and golf. We will be having a Saturday evening braai at the James’ followed by cricket, beers, and a braai at Wadebridge Cricket Club on Sunday.
Saturday daytime:
For those who love the outdoors, the Camel Trail is a wonderful choice for enjoying the idyllic Cornish countryside. Covering nearly 18 miles of mostly traffic-free flat tarmac, the Camel Trail will provide us with the perfect space for our Cornish escapades. A disused railway line, the Camel Trail has been transformed into a multi-use trail between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow, showcasing a stunning showreel of beautiful countryside and seascapes. Made with no steep turns or sharp inclines, its accessibility makes it an ideal day out for the Border Boys and family members. We will be completing the 5.5 mile leg from Wadebridge to Padstow for brunch and a beer (or coffee if you prefer) and then heading back. For those that don’t fancy the Camel Trail, there are also other options like going to the beach or doing some shopping in town.
– Trail Cost: Free
– Bike Hire: is available at The Camel Trail, this will need to be pre-booked.
Saturday evening from 5pm:
The James’ will be hosting a braai and laying down some tunes for a fun night full of boerie rolls and catching up around the fire. They have generously offered their garden for camping, so you can let your hair down and enjoy the evening without worrying about transportation or finding accommodation elsewhere. However, if camping is not for you there are plenty of local venues and cottages that Border Boys have exclusive access to, along with discounted prices for this time of year. Garden camping may be a better option for all the kids whilst parents have the luxury and facilities of the B&B’s. The furthest B&B is no more than 70 metres from the house so kids will always be close by…
Sunday:
Heading off to Wadebridge CC for a game of cricket, enjoying some beers, and having a braai is the a perfect combination to finish off our Border Boys Cornish weekend. It will be a great opportunity to have some friendly competition on the cricket field, while also enjoying some delicious food drinks and the company of good friends.
Wadebridge CC is in the centre of Wadebridge and has good access to the town for those who want to have a wander and do some holiday shopping. We are proposing a 30 over match, (similar to the Algie Cup played at school). Wadebridge are a good cricketing team who were the victors in the Premier League last year so should be a far more competitive game for us – we will need to bring our A game.
