heRITAGE & HISTORY

The Border is a region of the Eastern Cape province in South Africa comprising roughly the eastern half of the province.  Its main centre is East London. It is a small province sandwiched between the Old Transkei and Eastern Province.  The Border is a frontier region located between the Indian Ocean shores and the rugged escarpment mountains in the north.

Border does not have defined boundaries and is like the Boland region in the Western Cape. The name has long been applied to sports teams that have represented the region in South African interprovincial competitions.  The Border cricket team has competed in interprovincial cricket since 1898 and the Border rugby union team has competed in interprovincial rugby union since 1891. The Border Tennis Association is one of the 14 provincial members of Tennis South Africa.

Protect your Castle means exactly that. This could be the ice cold one after the game, protecting those stumps whilst batting or just ensuring that your “Castle” is looked after.
